Yarn Falls for Charity

Postby ishylynn » Fri Feb 05, 2010 2:47 pm

My best friend and I make yarn hair falls, and we have an artist's alley table this year. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. We are both part of the Gwinnett RFL team Lee's Bees, and will also be selling yarn falls there at the Relay. The falls are clip on, and can be clipped onto small buns and ponytails real easily. We balance the weight as much as possible so they are not too heavy or too hot to wear. We make them in both single ponytail and double pigtail falls.

We are planning to do some Hogwarts house color sets, and some short pink ones. I was wondering if we had specific requests for certain colors? Certain characters?

Here's a lovely picture of me modeling some of my falls:

Wow, that looks like a lot of work! I really like the pigtail version ^_^ I can't think of anything other than what you've already mentioned - the Hogwarts colors - maybe a few GA Tech & UGA colored ones (since we will be on GA Tech's campus ^_^) I've not really watched Lucky Star, but it's about a group of cheerleaders right? Maybe some "inspired' by them or something LOL

I'm not really into a lot of hair accessories (I've recently cut my hair LOL) but I'm interested in seeing the Slytherin colored ones ^_^

Thanks! I hadn't seen Lucky Star, so I went and looked it up. Looks cute! Kawaii ne!

You are probably right about the Tech ones, as much as it will pain me to make them (went to UGA...lol). We have some nicely colored yarn for the snakes, so hope they come out alright. I'm a 'Puff myself, but haven't made me any Badger tails yet. Making them really isn't as hard as it looks, but they can be a bit expensive with all the yarn.

I'll probably make some bath salts, too, as that's a specialty of mine.

you should make sure you have some straight black and white ones for the bleach cosplayers. and if there would be anyway to pin a squad number on them i would be getting more than one.

We can do lots of black and white. Mine are on ponytail holders, so should be pretty easy to pin things to them. I'll look that up and see if I can have some of those ready to go.

Here are a few I made this morning:
